Habitat:
A) Damp or dry cold rocky alpine tundra, with much bare ground, rocks and gravel, many cushion plants, Solanum acaule, Viola spp., Opuntia (white fuzzy cushions), Scirpus, Geranium, Castilleja. B) Wet springy areas with huge hard cushions of Distichia muscoides (Juncaceae), Scirpus, Gentiana.
