Occurrence Remarks:
This is the first collection of a member of the P. nitida-nitidella complex in North America. The small immersed ascocarps, lacking anthraquinone crystals, and rather large spores (27-33 x ll-13u) place it very near P. nitidella v. chlorospila. However, the white maculate thallus (due to small masses of colorless crystals) is distinctive
