Taxon: Pyrenula nitidella var. maculata R.C. Harris
Family: Pyrenulaceae
Determiner: R. C. Harris
Type Status: Isotype
Collector: W.A. Weber   s.n.
Date: 1974-05-27
Verbatim Date: 1974-5-27

31.59789  -97.556268 +-9768m.  WGS84
Georeference Remarks: pattern: MIDDLE BOSQUE RIVER AT MIDDLE BOSQUE; manually drew polygon around Middle Bosque River surrounding canyons and enlarged uncertainty radius
Habitat: Riparian woodland and limestone cliffs; on saplings of a smooth-barked tree not yet in leaf
Occurrence Remarks: This is the first collection of a member of the P. nitida-nitidella complex in North America. The small immersed ascocarps, lacking anthraquinone crystals, and rather large spores (27-33 x ll-13u) place it very near P. nitidella v. chlorospila. However, the white maculate thallus (due to small masses of colorless crystals) is distinctive
