Occurrence Remarks:
on first half mile from parking area toward Alakai Swamp trail, on crest of knife-edge ridge where fog is common; on sapling Metrosideros trees, always on very slender terminal twigs about 2-3 mm dism, forming plump, spherical thalli wrapped around the twig; uncommon and very scattered and difficult to collect in large amounts. The thalli shrink to less than half their size when dry.
