Habitat: formerly pastured, cambrian sandstone formation. A few Pinus strobus, Acer rubrum, Corylus americana, Ostrya virginiana, Quercus macrocarpa, Poa compressa. More shaded slope with Bartramia pomiformis, Climacium americanum. More exposed places with Hedwigia ciliata, Selaginella rupestris
