Habitat:
Rooted on moss-encased, fallen limb completely buried in Sphagnum. Pinus banksiana bog in shallow depression surrounded by oak-pine barrens and sand barrens on extensive old bed of Glacial Lake Wisconsin, bog ground layer a continuous carpet of Sphagnum & Carex oligosperma w/ simplified flora of shrubs (occasional Betula papyrifera & Salix pyrifolia, abundant Rubus hispidus) & herbs (Epilobium palustre, Eriophorum virginicum, Trientalis borealis).
