Occurrence Remarks:
These lichens and Bromeliaceae were bought on the "Christmas market" held next to the cathedral in Oaxaca, where they are sold for decorating homes and Jesus' crib (note: Lichens were occasionally sprinkled with city water, which comes from wellheads at base of Cerro San Felipe). Plants said to have been collected in "el Monte de Sierra Juarez" in the vicinity of the above named town, hence from the SNE slope of the Cerro San Felipe rather than the Sierra Juarez, sensu stricto, as on the American Geographic Society sheet.
